A simple song for complicated times.

I wanted to write a song about what I'd been seeing. It's a social commentary on what we deal with on a day-to-day. It's one of those songs that if you need a simple song and you don't want to worry about the lyrics all that much and you just need the chorus, then, grand, it's there for you. 

If you want to complain about some of the injustices I mention and that we face on a day-to-day basis, then the song is also there for you.

The genuine response to this song has been so fulfilling. I wrote two songs one day, and this was one of them, and after playing it on the livestreams, I realised I needed to release it. The response was just so lovely, and the song was perfect to record as raw as possible. 

I worked on this track with my friend Dan, someone whom I really value talking to about life, artistry and ideas. He also got involved with the two singles before this, but this was just us two. 

Released in 2024, 3 years after the last single, I decided to release Queen Of Hearts around February as a bit of a nod toward my first EP.

I wanted to come back to releasing music with something a little bit different for me at the time. I hide behind my massive guitar most of the time on stage, but this song demanded vulnerability. 

So it was just me, a piano and a story of how someone can look so perfect, seem to understand you so well, but no matter how much you keep fighting to stay, it just isn't right.

Much like a game of Poker, you might want to learn the game inside and out so you can stay, but it's probably best for you to go home.

Also, I did a version with my friend Dootae, who is an amazing singer, and he even sings in Korean for the track; check that out too.

After a wicked break-up, I kind of just threw up, and this song came out.

Literally, the first lyric is just something that I was overwhelmed with at the time. I was annoyed at myself for letting someone else walk all over me, all because I wasn't taking care of myself.

The song is about heartbreak, yes, but only for the punchline that the heartbreaker is not to be glorified but instead revealed as the cold, unempathetic individual they were. 

For this kind of deep-cut, I called in the A-Team of pure gross honesty and my friend Jack Grace. A dope producer out of Boscombe, Bournemouth, who really knows how to pick at the musical scab to get the best soundscape to deliver the message.

"Always" was my first single. I was itching to get back into the studio, and the motivation to release more music came pretty quickly after things died down after TMATB.

"Always" is a Rock-Pop track with big drums, electric guitars, and vocal layering that really gets across all the energy I was feeling at the time. (Think Stereophonics meets Goo Goo Dolls)

It's a story of regret, false promises and the truth in a situation that at the time was super stressful but now that i look back at it, i just have a giggle to myself.

Well the last song was really sad so...

I wrote this song when I was moving from down south, more up-country. It's a song about going from a small town and tackling bigger places and scenes and hoping that whoever's listening is coming along for the journey. 

It's a fun, upbeat song that has allowed people to hop up and down and sing a classic repetitive "Nanana"

And many times since writing and releasing the song, when I've been low or feeling less motivated, I'll be singing the bridge at a gig: "I'm not done yet", which is always a nice mantra and it keeps me going. 

The Moth and the Butterfly was released in February 2021 and showcased what I thought were my best 4 songs at 17 years old.

I wanted to showcase a few different styles that I appreciated, so each of the songs sits in its own genre and messaging.

The title track is a minimal, acoustic, bits-and-bobs-style instrumental behind a sweet narrative on the old "Opposites attract" theory.

Whereas the fan favourite "That's Just What Love Is" is a grittier, bluesy showcase on the frustrations of falling in love with someone and the contradictions it comes with.
